Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari has demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the arrest of Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal, accusing them of orchestrating a cover-up in the RG Kar rape-murder case. Adhikari alleged that Vineet Goyal instructed DC North to bribe the victim's family and destroy evidence on August 14. He also accused DC North and DC Central of complicity and called for their arrests.
Adhikari stated that the BJP will intensify its protests if the demands are not met, and plans to launch a signature campaign across all major Durga Puja pandals. He also criticized a recently passed bill preventing media from covering ongoing rape investigations, calling it an effort to muzzle the press and hide the truth from the public. Furthermore, Adhikari emphasized that the issue of health and police malpractices is never discussed in the Bengal Assembly, signaling a systemic lack of accountability.
Adhikari has vowed that the BJP will not stop protesting, even during Durga Puja, and will reveal the party’s next strategy on September 9. The battle between the BJP and the ruling TMC over the RG Kar case is likely to intensify in the coming days.
